Welcome Screen/Logon Issue

When I try to login to the system I click on the user account desired, enter the password for the account I get

"Loading your personal settings"

and no longer after I see the background picture it kicks me back to the Welcome Screen after saying

"Logging off"

I have tried to log in using the Administrator account in both normal and safe mode and still no luck. I have renamed the .Evt files because I once heard that the event log gets full using the fast user switching.

I just tried a repair using the Windows XP cd and still not fixed. I can't get into any part of windows except the Welcome Screen so I can't run any utils or programs.

The repair you did was it this way if not do it this way it will fix it for you.

boot up with xp disk in the drive
follow the onscreen instructions
till it gets to the point it asks do
you want to install or repair
choose install
next screen it offers repair again
choose repair this time
it will ask you for your confirmation serial
type it in and it will look like a fresh install
it is not so do not worry
after it is done, you will of lost all updates like service pack
and critical updates , but downlaod those again.

I plugged my HD into another machine and ran a virus scanner on the drive. It found some trojan infected files.

Trojans were:
Startpage.DM
Startpage.3.B
Downloader.Rvp.D
Downloader.Rameh.A
Dialer
Downloader.Wintrim.AD
Worm/Nachi.A

Also I thought I would look in the Documents and Settings folder and I get Access Denied when trying to access the User folder. I can access All Users and Administrator but not the single account for User. I would have thought that trying to access it through a completely different Windows installation I should not be restricted on a slave drive.
