uninstall a program manually

Hi,
I want to uninstall some program (icq) but its uninstallation is corrupt.

- Can I simply delete its directory?
- What about the registry, do I need to search for the program entries (how) and delete them also?

Do I need to do anything else?

Normally, it's Start > All Programs > ICQ > Uninstall ICQ. Or, you can find it in Add/Remove Programs. If neither can be used to remove it, see if this is helpful.
