I can't delete a file

I have an *.avi file sitting on my computer. I've tried to delete it, and a popup message claims that the file is in use by another user or process. I've tried rebooting, I've tried a clean xp boot, and get the same message. No one is using this file (which is corrupt).

Any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

try deleting if from safe mode.

Yep safe mode may work it usually does, but if it does not then close down the process that is using it, control/alt/delete together see what processes are running and close one down at a time when uou close one go to the file try and delete, if it does not close another process down go to the file again, eventually you will be able to delete it.

Do not close EXPLORER.EXE. and SYS TRAY.

Yours is cause 2. Just scroll down to were it says cause 2.

Try using a program like system mechanics incinerator, it might work. Just do a search on system mechanic and you should be able to download a trial.
