windows update KB835732??

I have windows XP Home edition and have had no problem with doing the updates from microsoft.
Until now............
The update KB835732 keeps saying it needs to be updated. I do the download and install it. I've done this 4 times in a row and it keeps wanting to download the update every time I boot up the system.
Is there a way to know if it has been installed in the system or where? And why does it not see it being installed already?

One more question.........
I've read a little on XP SP 1 update and have been kind of skeptical on the whole thing. I do not like to download anything when having to disable my anitvirus software. But I am seeing that a lot of people have had problems with the update. Others have no prob and see no improvement at all.
In a nutshell.......... should I download this update or not. I have to agree with some other decisions on just updating critical updates and not doing the SP 1 update.
What would your suggestion be?
Thanks again for all the help...............!!!

Its a case of do you want to fix it or not.SP1 is ok.You could try this.

The other option, which I know works, it to go into the registry and delete KB835732 and then let it be installed again.

Hi Kangaroo,
I think until I get a little more feedback on SP1 I will wait on that.
As for the KB835732......... how do I look for that in the registry to delete it?
It came up to install it today so I did but it repeats itself every day.
Thanks...........!

Well I tried to delete the update KB835732 and it said that my program
trojan remover would not work properly if I continued. So I stopped the removal.
Is the trojan romover program that I purchased interfering with this update.
Should I delete it anyway and then try to re-install the trojan romover?
Thanks

I have not come across this one before ,so yes, delete it.There is know reason why it should upset you trojan remover..which remover was it anyway. But I still say most of your prblem/s come from not having SP1 installed.SP1 can always be uninstalled .

Hi Pancake,
I see your point.
I will delete it and see what happens. The trojan remover is TR 6.2.1 that I purchased after getting tired of all the darn trojan viruses out there. And I guess it could be a cause of not having SP1. I looked on my add/remove programs and saw a lot of hotupdates that say they are part of SP1. Would that be possible if I didn't update the SP1 package? Just been nervous about putting SP1 on my system completely. But I guess it really needs to be done sooner or later.
Thanks!

Go ahead an get SP1.Remember thats its a big download of some 200mb so it will take a while on 56k.And remember you can uninstall it without any problem.f it worries you that much, you can always create a restore point before you start.......go for it. As you can see by my signature I am running test on SP2 for Microsoft and I have every confidence in it and find it as stable as a rock.

Pancake,
Wanted to thank you for the help on getting rid of the KB update. I deleted it and had it update and now it does not repeat.
Although I figured I would get SP1 update too.......... big mistake. It made my whole system very very slow. I hated that. I also found out that the patch to fix that system performance by microsoft is still in the works. So no guranatees on it. I did a system restore and got rid of it. I did not like it at all.
I will wait for more reviews when the SP2 comes out. Hopefully it will have that slow performace problem fixed with it.
Take care...........

Well..........
Spoke too soon. The darn update came back up again today. Getting really frustrated with it.
So is SP2 an update that has been approved by microsoft yet? Why doesn't it show on the update list?
Plus you say beta users..........?
Also I do not have professional. I have home edition.

SP2 has not yet been released.Maybe mid year.Beta users are official testers that report back any problems. It will do Home edition too. In the mean time I will look into you prob...stay tuned.
If you still have SP1 run it and see if the update still continues,

One thing you can do is to turn off automatic updates and download them as required.
