new harddrive

I want to upgrade to a bigger harddrive but I don't want to have to reinstall everything. Is there a way that I can transfer my old O/S onto my bigger harddrive?

Yes, There is.
Plug in your new drive as a slave and the use Norton ghost to transfer the image to the new hard drive, works like charm.

I was told that those type of programs wouldn't work with XP, have I been misled?

If you bought a seagate they come with a utility to copy everything from your old hard drive to the new one using the instructions from SnowMonkey. Then you can format the old one. Copies everything, works real nice.
