HELP! Outlook Keyboard Delay??

Just started having this issue, having changed nothing (manually, unless a virus did it!!).

When I launch Outlook 2002 client, and open New - message, calendar, whatever, the screen has about a 3-6 sec delay in recognizing keyboard input. I have to hold the keys down until they repeat for it to show up!

I've uninstalled, re-installed, patched, re-installed, regedted until I'm blue and it's still happening...Any suggestions????

Thanks, Mary

Let's take a step back and look at it this way... If your computer does not respond as fast as before, could it be possible that it is still a fast computer BUT it is doing something other then what you want it to do in the back round ?
It is possible that you computer has been infected by Virus of some sort.. do you have Anti -Virus ? do you update your Anti-Virus ? have you installed anything before this happened ?

Your comment......

cheers

Okay, here's the long version ...

I do have Anti Virus. It detected a couple of viruses a day before this started to happen. So when it started acting up, I updated the signatures and scanned the hd. Found nothing. I then used ad aware to strip off any internet gotchas (who knows right?). Tons found and all deleted. I've patched Office XP to SP3. Same issue. It's only in Outlook that this happens, in all other applications, the system functions great.

So after uninstalling and re-installing Office, I tried just installing Outlook....same thing. Uninstalled Outlook. I've deleted every file, every registry entry that has anything to do with Outlook. Re-installed, same thing. I think I'm losing my mind!

Now, even though I have the most recent Virus Signatures from Norton and McAfee (that ones the trial version, just to see if it could find something)...at times when I reboot the system, there is this lingering "Unresponsive" App or Process...SDargrd and so that Windows has to close with the unresponsive "end now" dialog. I only get to see if for a moment, and have searched the hd for any files with that name. Nothing.

Ideas?

Found the Fix!!!

In the registry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Run there is an entry "Wandows Sturtup" and is a swchost.exe file. Delete this entry in your registry and reboot. All problems gone!
