When you say you had to reinstall xp, do you mean you just performed an installation over your existing os or did you do a full fresh install after formatting? If you just reinstalled over the existing, you need to uninstall your dvd software and reinstall it. As for the "sleep" mode, I am unsure as to what happened there. You can try doing a windows update and download the driver updates and that might work.
