Weird computer lag problem

My computer is less than a year old, and has been running fine since I got it. Yesterday it began lagging very badly for no apparent reason. I checked the CPU usage in the Task Manager, but it was only at about 3%. I uninstalled the most recent program I'd put on the hard drive (about two days prior) and reset.

The computer now runs fine after the initial reset, but then starts lagging badly after about half an hour. No spyware or viruses turn up on my scans, and I defragged it last night after it began acting odd. Nothing seems to work. It seems like something is sucking up all my RAM, but CPU us never spikes.

Can someone help me?

When viewing the Task Manager look at Handles, Threads & Processes too. Saw a computer the other day with over 200,000 threads. That's definately a problem. In that case a reboot fixed it but in your case if they are high it may still be spyware or adware.
