For Snowmonkey

I read a post about a problem logging in as administrator, and in your reply you advised the person to get a Win98 bootdisk, bott the system with it, and then run fdisk /mbr. My problem is when I boot up in safe mode and try to log in as administrator, the computer hangs and I get the message "loading your personal setting", but nothing happens, no matter how long I wait. I have myself and my daughter set up as administrators and we can both log on as ourselves normally, but I can't use the administrator acount under safe mode. Will using the Win98 bootdisk and the above command fix my problem also, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks, Bill

I think you are on the right path,, you wouldn't need to use boot disk (that's probably a no no in this case). For some reason you administrator's account profile may be messed-up. can you log into Admin account with regular boot up ?

cheers

When I boot up and my startup screen comes up, it only shows my account and my daughter's, no other one. I did install TweakUI and changed some settings with it, so perhaps I have to go into that and look at what I did. I'll let you know when I can, as I am at work right now and do not have access to my personal computer. Thanks.

I can't find anything in TweakUI that I need to undo. Any thing else to suggest? Thanks.

when you get to login screen, press Ctrl+Alt+Dele twice rapidly , you will get a different menu for the login where you could type in Administrator and the password. Give that a shot.

cheers

Well, I tried logging in using the ctrl + alt + del, anf typing in administrator, but the hard drive worked for a few minutes and then just stopped. It didn't lock up, but it would go no farther. Guess for the time being I'll just forget about it, as I have myself as an administrator also, and should be able to do everything under my log in. Thanks anyways for trying to help. Bill
