Sorry guys, I am sure XP really is worth the effort, once i get used to it.
I have 2 problems at the moment, I can't access chatrooms even if i switch off norton firewall.

Computer won't shut down.

Help a complete novice again please

Im a novice myself but i've had a look at some of the threads and your problems are symptomatic of the Sasser worm.

If you have norton anti-virus you can download a patch for it, there is also a patch available off microsoft's website.
