IE6 and Windows Explorer crash everytime

This started 2 days ago and I thought I had the Sasser worm, but I have run Stinger twice and updated my McAfee and run it twice and both tell me I don't have a virus/worm. Everytime I open Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer, in about 5 seocnds I get the folllowing message:

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. For more information click here. I click and get:

Error Signature (it gives the app name, ver #, App Ver # and ModName: Kernel32.dll and then under it another click here for technical info and I get an Error Report Contents. This happens every time I try to open My Computer or run Internet Explorer. I can't even do a search for a file. I get the same message and it closes. Anyone who can help me fix this? I would really appreciate it.

Do as Azn_tweaker says, as well as the following, after you have run an on-line AV scan, as some virii are designed to disable installed AV : -

Another good one is: -

http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm

Type "sfc /scannow" into Start - Run, without the quotes noting that there is a space between f & / and hit ok. Have your XP CD ready as well.

Dl the following free apps, update them and run them on a daily basis, as you may have a spyware, adware, etcetera, issue as well: -

http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/downloads.html (CWShredder).

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ (Ad-aware).

http://www.fluteloop.com/Adaware6.htm (Ad-aware Tutorial).

http://www.safer-networking.org/ (Spybot-S&D).

http://www.net-integration.net/reviews/spybot2.html (Spybot-S&D Tutorial).

The following may be of interest as well: -

Any problems, post back.

Good luck

Hi,
I am having the same trouble with my IE crashes after a few seconds.

How do you scan with the on-line virus scanner if IE keeps crashing?

Send a message via MSN to scouse Send a message via Yahoo to scouse
Click on the housecall link Azz put up, then when the page loads look and you will were it says "SCAN NOW IT'S FEE" click on that. then choose your country on the drop down and press go Then you will get a box popping up asking you do you want install there blah blah (forgot what it is called now) make sure you clik YES. You will see a little box with a blue line showing install progress called active update.
This will take a few minutes to download. This gives the website access to your hard drive to be able to scan and clean.

Anyway once that is done you will see the page were you are to put ticks next to your drve letters Example put a tick in C drive. Also put a tick in were it says AUTO CLEAN. then just click scan.

Follow that to the letter and you are good to go.

Same here

I have the Windows Explorer crash, have run AVG and Norton Anti-Virus, and cleaned my system, yet it's continuing to crash.

I can't get to the panda software link, and the one azn recommended won't install. Please help. Thanks.
