Question resource-intensive process

for the last weeks, my pc was extremely slow and when resource-hungry applications were run the pc just hangs up - literally no input was accepted.

When I checked the processes present, I found one that was taking 97% of my CPU time! When I end this process the PC was working back to normal... however this process is being created on start up of the OS. How can I remove this process from the start-up list?

Previously I had some spy-ware problems but I managed to solve these problems - but suddenly the PC was being extremely slow - possibly a consequence of the spyware.

can anybody help?

Type "msconfig" into Start - Run, without the quotes and hit ok.

Then select Startup and select the offending process. You will have to restart in order that the process is stopped.
