Win Xp Drive Problem

Hi,
I recently installed xp home edition and it transfered all the contents of my C Local Drive from my old OS but the problem is that now i have 2 sets of Program Files, Windows, Doucments & Settings Folders, one in my Local Drive and one in my D: System_Sav drive. When i try to install new software i would have to manualy change the destination folder from D: to C: and even after that the start menue location is still set on D:. I also tried to just delete or move the second set of From my D: Drive but it wouldn't allow me to.

Thanks for any help...

It is not clear what you want. I think what you want is to have one of the drives formatted and to be drive d. Next you want the other drive to be drive c? I am wondering if both drives have the same data? What I would do , is to take the old drive and make it a master. Unplug the d drive and let it where it is. Use the old drive ,if it works( for about a week or so. When you feel secure yhat that drive works just fine. THEN. The new drive(which is probably faster than the old one) will be set up as the drive c.NOW----- get the dos drivers from the web site of the manufacturer of the new drive(exa WD. MAXOR< etc.,), if you didn't get the diskettes in the package.Set up the old drive as a master and the new drive as a slave. Boot with the mfg. dos diskette and pick format and copy files to new drive making the new drive bootable. . This will take 4-6 hrs. Just let the system chug away. It will let you know when its finished. NEXT.. Make the new drive master and unplug the old drive. Let it run til you're happy. I would let it go for about a week, just remember haste makes waste. When you're satisfied, make old drive a slave and plug it in. When your system comes up with the new drive in charge, you can go to system tools and format the old drive, or just keep the old drive as it is ( unplugged- this will be a complete backup of your system.) I hope this what you were thinking. Let me know if we must correct the plan. THis will end up with new drive as c and if you format the old drive and plug it in as a slave it will be d. GOOD LUCK

I am having a simular problem. How do I have XP only on the master C: drive? I can not delete the "new" OS on the D: drive that was not supposed to be loaded there from the first place.
AntiHero - Ill let you know what I find if anything.
