First, go into QuickTime's options/preferences and de-select everything that has problems (or 'all' of them). Then go to a picture (or any media) you want to open, right click while holding shift key down and choose 'open with' and select file type. Choose the one you want to use such as 'jpeg' and choose 'always open this type file with etc. etc. If what you want to use isn't there, choose 'windows explorer'...
About half way down this page is a program called QuickTime Alternative. QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and other extensions) without having to install QuickTime Player. It also supports QuickTime content that is embedded in webpages. The QuickTime plugins include iPIX and QuickTimeVR. The QuickTime Browser plugin supports Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla and Netscape.
