I need to uninstall windows media player 9 but can't!?

My windows media player, is my player of choice for music/movies but it doesn't play sound files (correctly) and is way out of tune...

I tried to uninstall and change settings to default but I CAN'T GET RID OF IT, IT KEEPS COMING BACK!

Also I reinstalled it and its still the same one with the same settings (still out of tune)

My other players play the music fine but WMP plays them terrible and i can't uninstall it and I can't update it because it's already on my computer and already the latest version

someone plz help me get rid of it so I can reinstall a fresh wmp9 with the default settings so music doesnt sound like crap

this is a difficult problem. if you have not had it long and system restore is active with a restore point made before it was installed it could be removed by this. system restore is known to have problems of it's own and you may end up with even greater problems. the only other way to remove wmp 9 and have a good running system is to reinstall windows(clean install is best). sadly when service pack 2 is released it will have a forced upgrade to wmp 9. the beta release of sp2 already has the wmp9 upgrade but most people dont install the beta service packs.

XP has another version on Media Player on it. Try playing your music/movies with 6.4. If you have the same issues, then the player is not the problem. You have Windows Media Player 6.4 at:

My Computer > Program Files > Windows Media Player > mplayer2.exe

It's probably not Windows Media Player Series 9 what bugs but something "under".
Seeing how it is incremented with service pack 1 and explorer and if reinstalling it doesn't work, you could repair your windows XP with your cd. But, try that if nothing else work.
