Users and Permissions Question

I am baffled by users and permissions. Would someone please identify a good source explaining these concepts?

Specifically, I'd like to share an outlook PST file between different users logged on Windows XP Pro. I can get to the pst file as Administrator but I can't get to it when I log in as a user account. How do I get my user account to access the same file without giving the user Administrator status?

Alan Simpson's Windows XP Bible was very uninformative on handling this situation. Are there any good sources available explaining this issue? I keep finding articles on how to allow different computers on the same network to access the same folder but I can't find out how to get two users logging in on the same computer to access the same datafile.

Thanks for your help.

This really is not an Xp issue.

If you want 2 users to use the same PST file, I think Outlook has an import function for PST files.

Try importing the same file to both user accounts.

Here is the default path for the file in XP.
X:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

I'm not even sure it is even possiable.
You need some one with Outlook skills for this.
GOOD LUCK

I agree with Grendel that this may be an outlook issue.
Look under 'FILE" for "SHARING".
you can share "CONTACTS' as well as other folders between users, set the size of the folders, set who is editor/user etc so that all can modify or only one can modify.

This I have done between several computers using Outlook. It seems to me you could do the same between profiles on the same computer using Grendel's path-way.

Good luck
