voice problems with Windows messenger

Dear Sirs,

while I was using windows messenger with dial-up connection the voice and video functions worked properly. Recently I have installed high-speed (DSL) internet at home. I have two PC’s which are connected trough router to the DSL modem. Since then I can’t no longer use the voice and video function of windows messenger. I am using Windows XP professional and the version of the messenger is 4.6.
Could you tell me please what the problem may be and how can be resolved ? And are there other software like this ?

Thank you,

Pol

any errors?

Do you get any Errors when you try to activate oice or Video confrencing with someone via Windows Messenger?

Also - Are you running Windows Messenger (C:\Program Files\Messenger\ by default) or MSN Messenger (C:\Program Files\MSN MEssenger\ by default)? They are different programs.

I am using MSN messenger

As I undrestood the ports of the router should be set.

About Millenium: I had it on my laptop - poor machine, it blocked all the time.
If you know something about router settings I'll be grateful
Thanks,

Pol

Trial and error

Skiku,

When you click on "Start Camera" or "Start Voice" in MSN Messenger 4.6, what (if any) error message shows up?

Exclamation Firewall?

Perhaps one of the two of you have a firewall running? A firewall may be preventing you from connecting to someone.
