possible sideeffects from a virus

Hi, I recently had been having a lot of issues with start up and spyware and stuff. I ran my avg scanner and found some viruses (one effected notepad rendering it unoperational even now). Some where healed and some locked in the virus vault. I also ran ad aware and removed the spy ware.

After this i still had problems so I ran panda scan, an online scanner, and found more viruses and got rid of them.

There are still a couple of things that aren't working ok with the computer now. When i or anyone else logs on, they are immediatly asked if they want to connect to the net ( possible effects from a trojan horse that was found), the home page for IE is reset to some hot searches page and the computer will only log off; shutdown; or restart sometimes.

can anyone please help me

ps It may have something to do with a program called IE host, I had a look at the startup log and that was there, but i am hesitant to delete it because it may be required by windows.

Troubled_man, Welcome to this Forum.

by the sounds of it you still have Virus in your computer as well as few of those nasty pest , don't be hesitant about removing anything from startup (except for Virus scanner and firewall software).
Use this software to scan your system once again (it is called spy sweeper):
http://www.spysweeper.com/download.html

plus, you may want to invest into a decent Virus scanner such as Norton Anti Virus (which does provide good updates).

As far as you IE setting and home page goes, those are effect of Pest and scumware in your computer (Spy sweeper will detect them and remove them). You could search for the name of those "hotsearch" in the registry and replace it with www.google.com without any after effect.
shut down thing is a virus issue and you will need a good Virus scanner to fix that.

cheers
