PC Reboots without notice

I have windows XP installed on my PC, I've attempted to build the machine myself but seem to be having problems with the system just shutting down without giving any notice, this occurs at any time. Sometimes it is unable to run again until it has rebooted up to 3 or 4 times. I'm hoping this is some kind of software configuration problem somewhere and not a hardware conflict. Has anyone come accross this problem before?

May be it is over heating ? Maybe hard drive is going bad ? Are you over clocking the CPU ? does it happen during a certain game or application ? have you had it check for virus / pest / sum-ware ?

cheers

managed to get an error message by turning the auto restart off, It says:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Then goes on to question if new hardware or software have been installed correctlry, suggests windows updates or to disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

Technical information:

0x0000000A (0x4DFA310C, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8050D7FE)

Beginning dump of physical memory

Make any sense to you? I have installed software since the pc was built, but to be honest I think this has occured from the beginning.

Thanks
James
