CPU Usage peaks to 100%

Hi,

I've done a search, but no joy so far....

I've noted that my CPU Usage (on the Task manager, Perfromance tab), quite often peaks to 100% (for a split second). It then idles below 15%.

My PF Usage is about 300MB.
This is with one user logged-in and Outlook open ('not sending or receiving) and Explorer on.
PC, Windows XP Home, 256MB RAM, 2.4GHz, P4
Norton Security 2004

Can somebody please clarify....?

A simple explanation of CPU and PF Usage would be appreciated as well....

Regards,

Biggles71
