loss of sound

i have just had to change from xp home to xp pro but when i try to play audio files using media player or listening to dvds with power dvd i have got no sound from speakers or headphones my computer is a time power station 356 amd athlon with 160gb hard drive and 1gb memory

please note that before i had to change the sound was fine any help much appreciated

Try this ...
Start > Run > dxdiag > OK > Sound

then check the Music tab

Are any problems showing in the bottom view?

What is the window showing for your sound card make/model?
