Angry ignor colors specified on web pages

Help - I have just compleated a clean install of win XP, i then loaded all the usual drivers plus norton. I then updated norton and then updated windows using window critiacal updates from the microsoft web site. My problem is i like to use my own colors when surfing as its easier to read from the screen, but after updating windows it will not let me chose my own colours. I have checke the box in Accessibility > ignore colors specified by web pages, but this does not make any differance. Hopefully someone will know a soloution, i dont want to do a clean install if i can help it, plus do not no which critical updates caused the problem. Also my system restore doesent work either. Is ther a reg setting i can alter? I have also noticed when the page first starts to down load the chosen color flashes up but then dissapears and reverts back to the normal colors. This is now buging me as reading of the screen with a white background isnt good for my eyes.

ps Thanks Jazz for the responce, but didnt help

That's very odd 7of 9, as on my system, I can change the background and text to whatever I like using the method I advised.

Anyway, I realize that this does not solve your IE issue, however, download Mozilla Firefox 0.8, or 0.9 Release Candidate at the following link. You can then specify your colour scheme as follows, under v0.8: -

Tools > Options > General (Fonts & Colours) > Fonts & Colours.

Good luck...........
