Finally, I found the solution after about 2 months! The problem is with the TROJ_BLAZEFIND.A which installs wsaupdater.exe.

It changes "UserInit=c:\windows\system32\wsaupdater.exe" from "UserInit=c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\C urrentversion\Winlogon". Ad-aware seems to remove the wsaupdater.exe file without fixing the registry entry. I accidentally found this one and fixed; now taskbar is working properly.

Here are some more info about wsaupdater.exe <http://www.mac-net.com/684480.page>, but it says we can't login (which in my experience is wrong as it changes only the taskbar). Virus info at trend <http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/viru...OJ_BLAZEFIND.A>

HTH

Great

Excellent work of reserve engineering. I no longer use the popular spy removing software and purchased webroot spy sweeper to keep my PC clean from spyware invasions. Hopefully this problem won't ever come back in the future. But it is always good to know the root of the problem. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the acknowledgement! I too uninstalled the Ad-aware and totally migrated to Firefox. My PC-cillin anti-virus scanner confirms that there is no spywares or viruses after migrating to Firefox.

I was having a similar problem with my taskbar not remembering my settings after startup, and I found this thread via a Google search so I just came to say that TaskbarRepairToolPlus! was actually able to solve my problem.

For whatever reason, the taskbar would auto-hide and also not display the quicklaunch bar, but running the "taskbar is missing" solution in TRTP helped and it's working just fine now, even the quicklaunch bar. I figure that Objectdock is to blame somehow, as I was running the taskbar in autohide mode while I was using it and recently uninstalled the app and did not have problems until then, but I can't be 100% sure.

Just my two cents.
