WIN XP automatically logs me out?

Problem goes like this:

Symptoms start with being unable to access any programs I get the error:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Okay, I get annoyed and restart...that's when the REAL hell begins...I now get automatically logged out each time I try to log in. Please note I am logging into the ONLY account on the computer, AND it has admin capabilities.

Please someone give me some help, I'm at my wits end.

Are you given any error messages or shutdown in 60 second boxes of any kind, apart from 'Windows cannot access the specified device......................?'

Have you just installed/uninstalled a new program, edited the Registry or tweaked the system in any way, etcetera, prior to this happening?

I now get automatically logged out each time I try to log in. Please note I am logging into the ONLY account on the computer, AND it has admin capabilities.

I assume when you say 'logging out each........', you actually mean the PC restarts in a loop, or actually shuts down the PC.

Are you using a quality, up-to-date and properly configured Firewall, or at the very least XP's Inetrnet Connection Firewall?
