USB Ports Broken???

Well I have 2 USB ports on my motherboard and both seem to not work. I have windows xp pro. A Shuttle AK32A motherboard. I have tried my MP3 player in both ports...nothing. I have tried my webcam in both ports...nothing. My wingman controller...nothing. I have checked that the USB ports were enabled in the BIOS and they in fact are. Funny thing is though, when plugging in the webcam XP makes the noise as if a USB were found, however, no installing drivers menu comes up or anything and the device either shows up as unknown or not at all in the device manager. I have tried uninstalling the re-installing the drivers for all my USB devices but with no luck. I have the most up-to-date drivers for my USB products. If anyone knows what's wrong and how I may fix it please let me know. Thanks, it is greatly appreciated. Bye.

Just a shot in the dark, because they do sound defective, but have you tried disabling in bios, plugging a device in, then enabling the USB ports again with the device plugged in? It is not uncommon to have a bad solder on a new motherboard.

Well I'll try that but the thing is they used to work. Then they just stopped out of nowhere.

Okay, I'm reading up on usb problems because I'm having the same problem. USB ports were working just fine 4 days ago and then BAM! Nothing is recognized, including hardware that has been on my system for months! This is my husband's computer and he got it before we were married last year, so I'm kinda at a loss with what's what here... but any help would be sooooooo appreciated!
