Windows XP Booting problem

Hi there,

I am having great trouble with my WinXP Home Edition.
Yesterday, I was getting lot of popups and stuff like that,
so I ran thru Spybot and lava adware..they cleared out
those nasty things..for a while the machine worked ok
but suddenly problems started popping up..first suddenly
comp hanged up..so i rebooted the system (by powering
off)..and then onwards it was showing me error that
"your system is low in virtual memory..", so i again
restarted it in safe mode..in safe mode when i tried to
login, it again freezed up and after a while popped up
the same error message again..i tried to boot into
safe mode with command prompt but that again asks
for user password and freezes up... i need to manually
restart the machine by powering off..i tried to do
"in place re-install (upgrade)" using xp cd, but still
i m getting the same weird problems...can any one please
help me with this problem..any suggestions would be
highly appreciated..

thanks,
BG

Hi b_gandhi2k

Repair Installation, Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Command Prompt do not work. Just to reiterate, you cannot boot to Windows at all. Is that correct?

How about last known good configuration?

Recovery Console?

Using System Restore from a command prompt is ruled out due to the fact that you cannot access Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

As far as I am aware, the Pagefile can only be manually set inside of the OS.

If all the above are true, I, personally, cannot see any other alternative than a clean installation.

However, hopefully, somebody may come along with a resolution for you.

Good luck.............

Hi Jazz,

thanks very much for ur reply..yeah, u got it correct, none
of the mentioned methods helped..I had also tried to use
the "Last known good configuration" option but that too
did not work out..Out of frustration (and urgent needs),
just reinstalled everything after transferring data by
hard disk transfer...i guess i should have tried recovery
console option..anyways thanks a lot.

regards,
BG.
