Visual Studio 6 problems

Hi, last night I installed Visual Studio 6 on my xp sp1 box and this morning when I go to use it I'm having problems. If my source code has no errors (that'll be the day) then I have no problems. But if I have a single error in my code, I get the usual error messages at the bottom of my screen, but it's stuck in 'build' mode. I can't even close it unless I end task. It keeps telling me to 'exit build'. I click on the exit build option in the tool bar up top and nothing happens, I've tried goin to 'build-> stop build' as well and nothing happens there either.

this started happening when I installed in my xp box, my 98 box has never had this issue...

Have you installed Visual Studio Service Pack 6? Available for download here:

I have your same configuration and saw the same behavior; after installing the service pack the build hang seems to have disappeared.

what is your code written in C++ or VB etc...

FYI, My code was in C++, I've not tried building VB.
