Unhappy Dial-up Connection disabled :-(

Man,
This is so irritating and I can't find the reason for this stupid thing. I wonder why this is happening. Please help! I can't log on to internet through my modem because it does not allow me to make a new connection.

I go to Control Panel-->Network Connections-->Create a New connection-->Wizard comes.

I click next, then connect to the internet, then Set-up my connection manually and ohhhhhhhh, connect using my dial-up modem is DISABLED. why?? though the modem is working fine, driver is okay and it is querying the modem as well! I am using Windows XP Professional.

Please help!

Go to control panel, Network and internet connections, on the left under "see also" go to phone and modem options.
ensure there is a location and area code listed.
good luck.

If you have't resolved the problem yet, take a look at the MS KB article, Dial-up modem or PPPoE option in New Connection Wizard is unavailable to see if there's any help there.

Nope...It did not change anything...It is still disabled. I even deleted that entry in the registry but still the connection stuff is disabled. I guess I have to reinstall XP :-(
