Outlook 2002 address book problem

When using Outlook 2002, when I'm in a new message and click the "to field" names come up that are not in the contact/address book. Some of the names that come up are for AOL, which we used to use, but when you look in the contact list it doesn't show it that way. I assume a setting is wrong some where! Any thoughts!

When You click the TO FIELD the system displayed the Select Names dialog box.

Immediately after the next sentence said:

Show name from the ___________ Dropdown arrow box

In this dropdown there are several address book listed
All Contacts
Contacts
Global Address book
etc...

Are you saying that when you select the contacts in the dropdown that the name listed in this contact book are not the same names listed when you click on the contacts icon to view
your contacts list.

When you click the show name from Contact on the dropdown you should be able to view all the names listed as if you would
have click the Contact icon.

I will wait for your clarification on this issue.

It comes up with the name as shown in the contact list, but after you go down to start typing the message and it usually shows the persons name then their email address
ie: john doe (johndoe@fauselco.com) the email address is no longer what is in the contact folder (which is @fauselco.com) it has become @aol.com.

I believe what is happening here is that when you are composing the email and you begin to type the name of the recipient outlook
is pulling the email address from the default Global address list rather than the contact list and that is why the email changes
to what you mention in your email.

The Global address list is displayed by default when ever you click the TO or CC button in outlook. Also remember that the contact list can contain both an individual email as well as a distribution list.

Check the Global address list to see if you find this email address you mention in your email with the @aol.com address.

If none of the above is happening then my understanding of your issue is that Outlook is automatically changing the user email
address with an @aol.com that does not exist in none of your address books.

If that is the case, I would then visit the microsoft website knowledge base and check if some one has submitted a posting with a possible fix for your issue.
