Installing windows xp

Hi guys,

I have another question, I hope someone can guide me as to what I have done wrong. I had windows ME and tried to install windows xp and I had a antivirus in me. I installed it and when I started the computer it showed windows me and xp both I got rid of the WIN ME in boot, ini but the files were still in C: and tried to install windows xp again because I had the files on it and It would not let me delete the C: to install windows xp on it as it said there was some process or previous installation something like that. I did install fresh last night and previously I had created D: drive and when i was installing it i said fresh install and instead of cleaning c: It had installed everything on D: drive and when I was installing my antivirus it was installing all my programs to D: I wasn't aware of this at first but i realized that the windows xp was installed on D: drive that's why all my programs where by default being installed in C: and in d: drive i have windows folder , program folder....and in c: all the programs and windows that had windows ME are there also. I want to know now is there a way of me getting rid of C: drive to make more space because my c: drive is 60 gig and my d is only 10 gig. I have worked on this for 4 days if anyone has any solution please let me know. I am really stressed any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. p.s I have saved all my files and i have the program cd's that were installed in C; when I had me. Plzz help I feel like crying

Dear Mary,
If I were you, I would start from scratch (cause I've been in your shoes). You have saved your data so thats a good thing. If you boot from the xp cd, choose install and choose delete partitions. If the xp cd will not let you do the preceding(with botched installs xp will cycle to try and complete an install).
Your best bet is to use Dariks boot and nuke to wipe the drive first and then boot from your xp cd and do a clean install. Here are a couple of helpful websites.

I suggest you:
step 1. Boot system with CD-ROM, enter dos prompt.
step 2. Enter command: format c:
step 3. boot system with XP System CD, and install it follow the installation guide.
