Question Firewire IEEE 1394 Issues

I Have been experiencing some strange happening using a Firewire card. Having recently moved to XP and purchased a firewire card for Digital Video editing.

I can capture video with no problems

However when writing back to tape - the video intermittently goes black for a few seconds before resuming,

my question is two part.

1. Has anybody else experienced this too. if so did you manage to cure this problem and how.

2. does anyone know of any good XP Firewire, digital video editing sites/forums

Many thanks

Clint
