Pip

To boot from CD you need to go into the BIOS setup and change
'First Boot Device' from floppy (or it may say IDE0) to CD-ROM. Make sure changes are saved upon exiting. Restart PC with XP disc in drive. Watch the screen. You need to watch for a message saying 'press any key to boot from CD' or something like that, so be ready to press any key when you see it. If you miss it the system will report an error and you just have to reboot and try again.

When XP install is complete don't forget to go back into BIOS
and change 'First Boot Device' back to 'Floppy' or 'IDE0' and save the changes as you exit.

somehow didn,t think it would be that easy,it now says:-
SDRAM at DIMM#:1
Searching for boot record from CD-ROM-Not Found
" " " " " Floppy - Not Found
" " " " " IDE - 0 .. OK
Missing Operating System

Went into the bios, and it says
Quick Boot Enabled
1st Boot Device cd-rom (did say IDE-O )
2nd " " floppy
3rd " " IDE-O
Try other boot devices yes

Does this shed any light on the matter
