Not sure if you can disable the built in XP burning without diving into the registry.
I'd be careful of EasyCD though - I installed it on my Win2K machine (it came with my HP CD burner) - and when I re-booted after the software installation it totalled my machine, would not boot into Win2k, NOTHING - not even in safe mode - I ended up having to re-format the HDD - which also gave me the much needed reason to swap over to XP.
Personally I now use the burning software integrated in MusicMatch Jukebox - its great for buring data, MP3's, CD audio, the lot, supports open session and all drive speeds - trust me - registering MusicMatch was the best thing I've done!
Anyway - that was my ten euro cents so there!
