Hi,
I need help to stop windows installer from poping up when i click IExplorer or some other softwares.

it keeps popping up,saying preparing to install...

i have the same thing happen when i open msn messenger,it started when i used a run cmd to uninstall windows messanger.i think the problem is due to the changes made to the registy.i dont know how to undo the changes but im sure there is a way and maybe some one else can shed some light on the subject for both of us.

could be corrupted installer keys in the registry.
You could install msizap from the cd.
support/tools
right click, open the support cab, scroll to msi zap. right click, extract to program files/windows installer cleanup.

I tried what you said but still same problem.i know the registry has got corrupted, but i dont want to format.

my system is a branded with xp home OEM version.


any other way.

Do you have system restore enabled?
you could try rolling it back to when you knew your system was running well.
