Angry Audio Codec Problem, Emergency! :(

Oi!

Recently, although I can't figure out when, something went terribl wrong with my audio.

In media players, (WMP, Winamp) audio plays just fine.
In editing programs (NanDub, Virtual Dub, Virtual Dub Mod, Adobe Audition) I only get video playback. Source audio does not play back, as well as attached .wav files.

I tried: reinstalling sound drivers, reinstalling WMP, reinstalling all my other codecs, System Restore (I guess that was useless, but I was desperate).

Someone said it could be my core audio codecs but it didn't get fixed with the WMP reinstall.

I sorta kinda need this to work! Lol. If anyone can help, it would be great.

Response I'm not looking forward to seeing: "reformat".
