ScanDisk on XP Pro

Hi,

Is there a scandisk on XP Pro ? I was looking around for it, but could not find it. Here is what I did do:

My Computer,
Right Click on C:\ - choose Properties
Select "Tools" (tab).
Click "Check Now".
Put checks in both boxes ("Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors").
Click Start.

Says that it will only work with a re-start - so click on 'OK"

Re-started computer - and didn't see anything happening.

Repeated steps and choose - "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" only. This took a while - but did something.

So.....
1. Is this what the scandisk is and
2. If so, how come I didn't see it work after a re-start ?

The XP version of Scandisk is called Checkdisk and is basically the same tool.

It works as part of the Boot Process so is not part of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) .
