I am experiencing frequent but temporary (about 1-2 minutes) freezes on my Win XP. During these freezes, none of the apps work, but my mouse pointer moves fine. And I am able to open Task Manager. In task Manager 'Processes' tab, 'User Name' column, there r no entries. The User Name(My name), 'System', 'Local Service', 'Network Service', etc. are all missing from this column. If I wait for a minute or two, the user names appear again and the computer starts working fine.....for sometime.. till the same thing happens again. It's like the computer automatically logs off and on at regular intervals. This even happens as soon as I log in to XP. The comp does not respond immediately after logging in. It's the same scenario. It takes around 2 mins. During this period, if I am online, my Internet connection also stops working, so all my downloads stop. But the strange thing is that if I am playing any music, it continues to play even during the freezes. Do these freezes have anything to do with any services that are not running, which I may have to enable? No adware and no virus. I have already scanned.
