An interesting thing has occurred in the past few days. I have a law office and someone, either in person at my computer (XP Pro) or somehow via the Internet, created a user account with Admin privileges with the name "King." Easy, just delete it, right? No. The account CANNOT be deleted! If one creates a new user account with Administrator privileges with XP/XP Pro, the lines that appear on the account when one goes to the Control Panel/User Accounts will include a deletion line. There are but TWO lines to the King entry: change password and change picture lines.
OK, this is the work of someone who has found a way to remove all lines except those two. It was not my secretary (not sharp enough). The only people with access are the office cleaning crowd. I have investigated that and now believe that this somehow came from a lad on the Internet.
But the crux of the problem is how do I delete this user account? I am at a complete loss. Absolutely don't want to re-install XP (and I don't see how that would help). Do not want to (no, cannot afford to) wipe the disk and start over. Helllllllp!
The computer is an eMachine T2240, but that is seemingly immaterial. It is a 2.2 gHz processor, 40 gigabyte hard drive with 128 megs of RAM. I have ZoneAlarm on the system. I have (since the discovery of the problem) passworded the King file and put a password on my user account.
Please send me a solution if you know one. Thanks in advance.
