Printer and Disk problems!

I have two problems

1.i can't install printer. I have Lexmars z23 printer with usb connection when I connect my printer i have regular install wizard but in the end of instalation i recieve this message:
"An error occurred during the instalation of the device
The RPC server is unavailable"
Whe i try to "Add Printer" from Control Panel i receive this message:
"Operation couldn't be completed"

2.windows can't check my disk for errors. I have two local disks on one hard drive. C:type Fat32 D:type Ntfs. Windows installed on Drive D:\. When i do Error-checking i get massage that i need to restart computer in order to do error checking, when i restart comuter on startup i receive this message:
"Checking file system on Drive D:
Drive D: File system NTFS
Cannot open volume for direct access
Windows finished to check errors"

NB Presumably, you are referring to a Lexmark z23 and not
a Lexmars z23?

1. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.

Double click Remote Procedure Call (NOT) Remote Procedure Call Locator. What does it say under Startup type?

2. See the folowing Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 823439

Cannot Open Volume for Direct Access" Error Message When Chkdsk Runs at Startup

Post back with results re: issue # 1

Have you updated the Lexmark z23 driver?

If not, the XP driver can be located at the following address: -

Z23 Color Jetprinter - Drivers and Downloads
