I have the VIA technologies AC97 sound thingy. LOL sorry. LOL
I was told to update the driver yesterday and since doing so my windows start up music can blow your brains out. It is so loud it can wake the dead. I spent a long time with HP tech support, and they aren't much help with this. I went to the help forum at VIA and they haven't bothered to reply. Seems like they have major problems over there! So, I was finally able to get the setting changed and they finally are sticking with a reboot. But when I start up now I hear a hum....the annoying kind that hurts your ears. After the boot it seems better but if I mute it....its still got this crackle noise coming from the speakers. Never had a day of trouble till the update and wsh I could just undo it. Would system restore fix that? I am thinking it won't. What do you think?? Thanks as always
