outgoing mail- Outlook

Hi,

I recently install Mcafee Internet security suite, on my PC (XP) it has anti virus, firewall, spam killer, popup blocker, and spyware protection. The problem is I wasn't recieving any email, so I went in and retrieved my emial from the blocked emails under the spam blocker and added those emails to my friends lists, but I can't send any email out. I have even tried disableing my firewall and spam killer programs and it still won't let me send any email out. . I am sure I am missing something obvious, but please forgive me if I am. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Cannot send or receive email messages

You write new messages and send them to the outbox, but nothing happens. All you know for sure is that your email is not
going out or coming in. One possibility is that your Internet account settings have been altered for some reason installing or upgrading an anti-virus program can sometime have this effect. You might also want to test all accounts to see which of them work. If you find an account that doesn't work, you can re-enter the information.

Check and restore your email account settings
If you recently installed or upgraded an anti-virus program, that new program might have changed some of your internet account settings. You need to restore the correct settings.

Which Email system are you using? IE: Outlook

Hi Gator

Firstly, never disable your Firewall, especially if you are online 24/7.

Even if you are on dial-up and you happened to disable your Firewall, there will come a day when you inadvertently forget to turn it on again and wham. It only takes a split second for MSBlaster, Sasser, etcetera, to hit your puter. Then you are in trouble.

This brings me to my next point. I would sincerely advise you to use a web based email account, such as Yahoo, Hotmail, etcetera, as opposed to Outlook or OE. At the end of the day, using Outlook and OE can be tantamount to playing Russian Roulette, IMHO, due to their many vunerabilities.

Anyway, good luck, whatever you decide to do……………..

Identify your email system

Which email system are you using? This will help greatly in getting your issue resolved.
