System Restore on data partitions

My Compaq Presario 2100 notebook has several data partitions on its hard drive. Only the C: drive is a system drive, but one of the other partitions has some games installed on it. Also, all drives are protected by Nortion System Works (anti-virus, un-erase wizard).

For some reason XP Home Edition has by default put System Restore data on ALL my partitions. There's a sometimes large folder called "System Volume Information" on every drive.

The system Control Panel gives me the option of removing System Restore from non-system drives. Is there any reason not to do this? I.e., when I do a system restore, is there anything on these non-system partitions that gets restored? (Like in my games application partition maybe?) Does having System Restore on a non-system partition serve any purpose at all?

Thanks,
Alden

Personally, System Restore is unpredictable and unreliable at the best of times, especially when you most need it. My disaster recovery plan includes using Norton Ghost, which is tried and tested. Any eventuallity and you are up and running again inside of 15-20 minutes.

With respect to your games application partition and the like, no, however, have a good read here and decide for yourself: -
