Image File Association

Hi All,

I have XP Home Addition, and I basically want my image files to open in IExplorer instead of the image viewer. I know you can do it by right clicking on the image but what I would like is for the images to open in the same IE window and it to be the default option.'
The option for this is not given in 'file associations', but it does have the 'add new' tab. What do i write in there?

Thanx for reading

With MY Computer open ...

Tools > Folder Options > File Types > Scroll down and select the file type > Change > Select your application from the list or Browse for the application > OK > select your next file type etc.

To get IE to show up in "file associations" (like LooseChippings mentioned), you simply have to click "Browse" from the file associations menu, then go to drive letter>program files>internet explorer>IEXPLORE.EXE.

For opening all in one window, do you mean every time you click on an image, you want it to be added to the same page, or do you just want to view a whole bunch of pictures as a slide show all on one page? I know that you can drag pictures into the open IE window, but you'll have to click the forward and back buttons to view them all. I don't know how you would get them all on one page...

Out of curiosity, why do you want your pictures to open in Internet Exporer? There are many great picture viewers out there that have better options. Your choice though, I guess.

inoesomestuff's directions are correct except for one last step. After selecting IE in the list, near the bottom of the window there's a check box for "Always use...." Click it to put a checkmark in the box and click OK. That should change the file association for all files of that type. You will need to do it for all files types you want to open in IE.
