Can anyone tell me how to uninstall directx 8.1??

I have installed directx 9 on my computer but direcx 8.1 is still shown and the program i have on

When you installed DirectX 9, it should have automatically updated the 8.1 as necessary. Try running dxdiag from the 'Run" commad in the start enu, and see what you get, You should see something similar to this:
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0 (4.09.0000.0900) on the first tab of the Diagnostic Tool. The last entry in the system Information Panel. That should tell you which version you have installed.

Another thing, what program is telling you that you have directx 8.1????
