Windows plays media files automatically

My system just started to play media files automatically after D/L or after I click on them and in full screen so I have no way to stop them or make adjustments to how I want it viewed. why is this and is there a way to stop this from happening. All I want is to have the media player start, but not play, and in the player window. Thanks........

It sounds like you've your browser set up to automatically run music when downloading it. Once it is downloaded or if you open a music file, Media player will run with its default file association profile. you can change the way it behaves by modifying the association profile for the particular media being run (ie. mp3, wma, midi, etc.). If this sounds like the issue, let us know so we can help you further.

Otherwise, what happens when you open up media player by itself, without opening music?

The files start automatically when I click on them in windows exlorer, in the player itself or directly after D/L. If I open a file in the media player, it does not just load it and wait to click on play, it just starts by itself and in full screen. That said, I don't think it is a setting in the browser or explorer.
