Big Problem...help!!

I was having some problems with my system, so I decided to reformat and reload WIndows XP Professional. I backed up my needed files to my DVD drive using Windows Explorer drag and drop. The files all successfully backed up(I think) and I was able to access the DVD drive and view the files(before formatting). Also on the back on the 2 DVDs you can see where the files are burnt.

I reformatted the hard drive, reloaded Windows XP, reloaded ALL the patches and driver updates, through the Window Update utility and now when I try to reload my files off the DVD, it doesnt see anything!! I can put a movie in the DVD drive and that works.

The DVDs are not physically damaged in any way...
Anyone have any ideas what I need to do. This is a HUGE HUGE problem for me, ALL my data is on those 2 DVD's including stuff for my upcoming Wedding!!!!

Help help

Is your DVD a rewritable, or did you burn it?

Try using another puter. A friend's maybe.

If the disks are 'seen', more than likely your drive is on the way out. If they are not 'seen', dodgy disks or bad burns.

In addition, if the disks are 'seen' using another puter, try using a laser lens cleaner in your drive............

Yes, I burned them on a +R format HP 330i drive. I took the dvd's next door to a friends, same problem.

I've downloaded a recovery software which is my last gasp if I reach there. It renames all my files sequentiall file1, file2 etc, with NO folders, so this is almost useless. However I opened a few of the files and they are indeed the files I backed up.

Any other ideas of recover software or services I might use/try
