Question Adding Win2k HD to WinXP setup

Ok I have a Windows XP machine. I am taking a hard drive from a Windows 2000 machine to get all the data off of it.

Here is the setup on the Windows Xp machine:

One hard drive (3 partitions) with letters C, E, and G [primary master]

Floppy letter A

DVD Writer letter D [secondary master]

DVD Drive letter F [secondary slave]

Ok I am adding the Win2k hard drive (which has 2 partitions)

C and D, where C was bootable

ok what letters do the former C and D now become?

C was the active partition on that drive, but it will NOT cause a problem when I put it in the XP machine will it?

The Win2k HDD C & D Partitions will become whatever XP allocates to them.

Sorry if this is a bit simple but I don't know your PC knowledge.

Set the jumper[s] on the W2k HDD to Slave.

Bolt the W2k HDD into place and connect the power and data cables.

Boot the PC and go into BIOS and install the W2k HDD.

Restart and allow XP to boot all the way.

Open Explorer and XP will have allocated the W2k HDD drive letters.

If you want to change the drive letters, you can go into Computer Management ...
C:\windows\system32\compmgmt.exe and use the disk management option.
