Win Xp network username and password problem

Hi guys,
I have windows xp professional and I have it running on a home network. My problem is whenever other computers on my network try to access my computer through the network it comes up with a username and password dialogue. How can I stop this and be able to share files. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to use the Group Policy Editor to allow network access without passwords. See this page. Scroll down to the last example and disable the item highlighted in the graphic.

Well you could enable the Guest password, but that comes with big risk of being hacked.

You could set the Guest account and then create a password and give it to the people connecting to you. OR:

You could create an account on your local machine for the other people to use, but when they connect they must use the Connect using another account option and put:

PCNAME\AccountID
Password

Try that.

I vaguely recall it has something to do with "simple file sharing." Since that's turned on and cannot be turned off in XP Home and the computers networked with my XP Home are not required to enter a password, perhaps turning on simple file sharing will solve the problem.
