Please Help!! No web backgrounds

Hi there,

I really hope one of you guys can help me out. I'm currently staying with my folks for a couple of months and I'm having to use their Pc rather than mine.

They are on XP - Home Ed. Version 2002.

I don't know why but when I'm browsing the web, none of the backgrounds are visible for ANY web page. I can see certain images but all of the main backgrounds are not visible and in some cases it even seems to distort how the web page should really look...e.g. the Font size may in some cases have increased. I know this by looking at my own website.

Any suggestions? I have tried literally everything with display options and nothing seems to correct it.

Please, someone help as this is driving me mad!

Many thanks in advance

Ian

In Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Accessibility button if any of the boxes are check, uncheck them and see if that makes a difference.

Your parents may have set it that way on purpose and if they have, be sure to set it back to their preferences before you leave.

Thanks for that...unfortunately it didn't work. I had actually looked at that before. All boxes are unchecked.

This is really annoying...any other ideas?

I'm thinking maybe a file may be missing that needs to be re-installed...I wouldn't know what one..

I'm not sure if I can attach pictures in here...maybe that would help if you could see how my pages looked?

can you suggest any other sites, contacts to try, to see if they maybe know?

Thanks for your previous suggestion though..

cheers
Ian

On to the next step, then.

Empty the browser's cache and dump all the temp files. If that doesn't fix things, the next thing is spyware...always a suspect when IE starts acting squirrely.

If you haven't already, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or Ad-Aware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.
