"Take advantage of Hot Summer Sale" Systeam Tray Icon!!!!

Hey!

I recently am seeing this really annoying orange bell icon in my system tray that is blinking. When I hover over it the popup text says "Take advantage of the Hot Summer Sale!" When I click on it, it will disappear. If I right click on it, I have two options - Open Message and Leave It. So if I click Open Message the icon disappears and nothing happens... If I click Leave It the icon just stays there and nothing happens...

The problem is, whenever the icon goes away, I give it 20 seconds and it shows up again. I ran Spybot S&D and it found nothing, updated my Symantec Antivirus and scanned, it found nothing. I rebooted and it didn't solve the problem either. I checked my process list and each time the icon disappeared I would look in the process list so that when the icon came back I could see what process it was but it doesn't appear to have a process in my task manager... I sifted through all my processes and tried to find one that was out of the ordinary, and all the ones I searched were legit.

I do not download any of those stupid search toolbar plugins, nor any of those adware infested popup blockers. I just have no idea what this icon is doing here, and would greatly appreiciate it if someone could help me out and tell me how to fix it .

Thanks and regards,
Jdawgg

Did you update Spybot before running the scan?

You might want to download, install, immediately update and then run Ad-Aware as well. Spybot and Ad-Aware tend to find things the other misses due to the different scanning parameters each uses. See if Ad-Aware can pick up something that Spybot may have missed.

Also, go into Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab and uncheck the lines refrerring to "Install on Demand," click OK to save any changes you make. That won't help get rid of this "Summer Sale" icon but it will help somewhat to avoid drive-by, invisible installs of spyware.

Thanks so much . Ad-aware is what caught the little bugger.
